Microsoft 365 Copilot · Training & adoption
Microsoft Copilot training for Alberta teams.
Many businesses already have Copilot on every desk and very little use of it. We teach Copilot inside the apps your people work in all day, using their own kind of work, and matched to the licenses you actually have.

Copilot Chat or Microsoft 365 Copilot?
The two are easy to confuse, and they make for very different training. We confirm which one each group has before we plan anything.
| Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat | Microsoft 365 Copilot (add-on) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it works | Copilot Chat in the browser, Teams and Outlook; other Microsoft 365 apps depend on your plan. | Built into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. |
| Your work data | Limited — mainly files a user uploads into the chat. | Grounded in the email, meetings, chats and files each user can already access. |
| Agents | Basic agents; agents that use shared company data are billed by usage if enabled. | Wider access, including agents such as Researcher and Analyst and custom agents. |
| Cost | Included with eligible Microsoft 365 business subscriptions. | Paid add-on license per user. |

App by app
What we practise in each app.
Word
- Draft a proposal from a previous one and a page of notes
- Summarize a long policy and list what changed
- Rewrite for a different reader — board, client, crew
Excel
- Explain what a workbook shows before you touch it
- Build formulas and pivot tables by describing the result
- Write variance commentary you then check against the numbers
Outlook
- Summarize a long thread and pull out decisions
- Draft replies in your tone, then edit
- Prepare for a meeting from related email and files
Teams
- Meeting recaps with actions and owners
- Catch up on a busy channel
- Ask what was decided while you were away
PowerPoint
- Turn a Word document into a first-draft deck
- Tighten slide text and speaker notes
- Summarize a deck you’ve been sent
Copilot Chat & agents
- Research with web sources you can verify
- Reusable prompts for recurring tasks
- When an agent is worth setting up — and when it isn’t
Exercises use features included in your licenses only.
Adoption
Training is one part of a Copilot rollout.
Licenses sitting unused are common. These are the steps that tend to decide whether Copilot becomes a habit.
- 01
Check access
Who has which license, and whether SharePoint and Teams permissions are tidy enough for Copilot to search safely.
- 02
Agree the rules
A one-page guideline: approved uses, data to keep out, and who reviews what before it’s sent.
- 03
Train by role
Short, hands-on sessions per team, built on their actual tasks.
- 04
Follow up
A check-in a few weeks later to fix what isn’t working and share what is.
- 05
Automate the repeat work
Where the same steps happen every week, consider Power Automate or a simple agent.
Questions
Copilot training questions.
Our staff only have Copilot Chat. Is training still worthwhile?
Usually, yes. Copilot Chat handles drafting, summarizing and analysis of uploaded files well. Training on it first also tells you which people would actually use the paid add-on, before you buy licenses.
Should we fix SharePoint permissions before rolling out Copilot?
It’s wise to check. Microsoft 365 Copilot works within each user’s existing permissions, so files that are shared too widely become easier to find. We help you spot the obvious problem areas as part of rollout planning.
Do you sell Microsoft licenses?
No. We are independent of Microsoft and don’t resell licenses. We help you work out what you need and use it well.
